Category - Condenser Microphone

Condenser microphones are responsive microphones that do a better job of capturing detail compared to dynamic microphones.

Condenser mics are made with a conductive diaphragm placed close to a metal disk (backplate). This design creates a capacitor which is given its electric charge from a phantom power supply (48v). The microphone diaphragm vibrates in response to sound pressure, causing the capacitance to vary and producing a voltage variation – the signal output of the microphone.

Condenser mics come in a variety of configurations and are very popular in a studio environment.
